AMLO proposal receives UN support 0:47
(CNN Spanish) - The President of Mexico, Andrés López Obrador, published a series of messages on his Twitter account after conversing by telephone with the President of the United States.
"President Donald Trump called me to respond to our request about the acquisition of ventilators and intensive care medical equipment. He guaranteed me that at the end of this month we will have a thousand and we will be able to acquire others more because our country has no restrictions on the purchase of equipment from the United States, "the Mexican president wrote in a message published along with a photograph in which he appears. and the Mexican foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard, with a pair of cell phones on a table.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador had made this request to the United States as part of his government's preparations for the treatment of patients with coronavirus.
This Thursday Mexico exceeded 6,000 patients diagnosed with coronavirus and the number of people who died from causes derived from it was close to 500.
The Mexican president assured that he suggested to President Donald Trump to meet in the middle of this year to personally thank him for what he called a gesture of solidarity with his country. “I raised the possibility of meeting in June or July to personally express our gratitude and bear witness to the entry into force of the T-MEC. My affection to the countrymen and the American people, ”added López Obrador.
