Corona in Italy: More people died of coronavirus infections
As reported by the National Statistics Institute ( Istat ) and the Research Institute of the Italian Health Service ( ISS ) this Monday, the number of deaths in the Mediterranean country rose by 49.4 percent compared to the March months of 2015 to 2019. Between February 20, when Italy reported the first corona death , and March 31, the increase was 38.7 percent.

There are three "hypotheses" for the remaining 11,663 fatalities: that they were infected with the pathogen Sars-CoV-2 but were never tested; that they died from the "indirect consequences" of an undetected virus infection because it aggravated their pre-existing conditions; or that they died of other illnesses because the health system was completely overloaded with the coronavirus pandemic .
