Worrying data: Jerusalem is the poorest of the five largest cities and the second of the 16 largest poor cities in Israel.

According to National Insurance data, the average salary in Jerusalem amounts to only 82% of the average wage in Israel and stands at only NIS 8,739 per month, compared with the national average wage of NIS 10,593, and compared with the average wage in Tel Aviv, which is NIS 12,934.

The average income of working families with two earners in Jerusalem is 63.7% of the average wage in Israel and stands at only NIS 13,741. This compares with an average income of two earners of NIS 21,583 at the national level, and compared with an average income of NIS 29,709 per family in Tel Aviv and NIS 25,805 per family in Haifa. The average salary for men is higher than the national average and stands at NIS 12,598 a month. 

The average salary for an individual in Savyon is the highest in Israel and stands at NIS 20,028. This was followed by the highest average salary recorded in Nofit, with NIS 18,979. The city with the lowest average salary in the Jewish sector is Elite Intelligence, with a total of only NIS 5,873.

Among the self-employed, the highest average income was recorded in Lehavim, with NIS 21,871, followed by Nofit, where the average income of the self-employed was NIS 17,755. The lowest average income was recorded in Emanuel, with only NIS 5,258. It should be emphasized that this is data from the outbreak of the Corona crisis in mid-March.
