Earlier, the president of Colombia Iván Duque asked the police to find those responsible for the threats that the doctor José Julián Buelvas reported having received after a patient who was hospitalized in the hospital where he works died.

We are outraged and hurt by the threats against doctors and people who are saving lives in our country in the middle of # COVID__19. We will identify and bring to justice those who have committed these crimes. It is mean, low behavior and the worst expression of evil.

"We are outraged and hurt by the threats to doctors and people who are saving lives in our country in the middle of the covid-19. We will identify and bring to justice those who have committed these crimes. It is a mean behavior, low and the worst expression of evil, "wrote the president on Twitter while expressing solidarity with the health professional and his family.

The previous day, a video had circulated on social networks in which Buelvas, who works in a mother-child clinic in the municipality of Soledad, Atlántico, reported having received two funeral arrangements as threats. “I received two arrangements, one at work and one at my residence. They accuse me of letting a lady die in the pandemic in the intensive care unit. It is impossible, ”she said through tears.

In a statement, the Adela de Char Maternal and Child Clinic ordered that all staff must go to their workplace with their private clothing and change once they have entered the facilities. With respect to the Buelvas case, they reported that they filed a complaint with the Colombian National Police and that there will be a patrol guarding both the medical center and the surrounding areas.

In statements to the media, the Commander of the Barranquilla Police, Ricardo Alarcón Campos, confirmed that an investigation was opened while protecting both the doctor and his family.

After the fact was revealed, several Twitter users turned to the hashtag #YoAdmiroAJoseJulian to express their support for the doctor. The Colombian Medical Federation called for this Tuesday afternoon a demonstration with horns and saucepans in rejection of the threats received by the doctor.
