Observatory: Parrot gradually weakens and moves away from alert signal No.1

At 9 a.m., Tropical Storm Parrots gathered about 230 kilometers west-southwest of Hong Kong, that is, at 21.6 degrees north latitude and 112.1 degrees east longitude. It is expected to move northwest at a speed of about 22 kilometers an hour to the coast of western Guangdong. By 10 a.m., Tropical Storm Parrot had landed in Yangjiang City, Guangdong, and weakened to a tropical depression. The Observatory expected that the parrot would stay away from Hong Kong. Local winds are easing, and the Observatory is about to change the first alert signal.

At 9 am, the strong wind signal No. 3 is still in effect, and the Hong Kong Observatory expects the average wind speed in Hong Kong to be 41 to 62 kilometers per hour. The Observatory pointed out that the parrot is about to land near Yangjiang in western Guangdong. Parrots are expected to gradually weaken and move away from Hong Kong. The Observatory will reissue the alert signal No. 1 within a short period of time.

By 10 a.m., the observatory stated that the parrot would stay away from Hong Kong. Local winds are easing, and the Observatory is about to change the first alert signal.

The outer rain belt of the parrot is affecting the coast of Guangdong, and there are also swells on the sea. The public should stay away from the shore and stop all water activities. In the past hour, the highest sustained wind speeds recorded at Waglan Island, Chek Lap Kok and Tate's Cairn were 50, 46 and 44 kilometers per hour respectively, and the highest gusts were 59, 62 and 67 kilometers per hour respectively.
