The total number of confirmed cases since the start of the epidemic amounted to 3,242,073 on Saturday, according to this university based in Baltimore (east) and whose assessments refer. The number of deaths rose to 134,729, 760 more than Friday.

The daily number of new infections exceeded 60,000 for the fifth day in a row in the United States where, by the admission of health authorities, the epidemic is out of control in several states.

For the first time, President Donald Trump wore a mask publicly on Saturday during a visit to a military hospital near Washington. Trump, who downplayed the severity of the pandemic, has so far been reluctant to take this preventive measure, as have many of his supporters.

Two-thirds of Americans now disapprove of Trump's handling of the pandemic, according to an ABC poll released Friday, up from half in April. Polls for the November 3 election give his opponent Democrat Joe Biden an average of nine points.
