Fire in a Recoleta building: they rescue a woman from a burning apartment and evacuate neighbors on the terrace

An emergency call to firefighters from the City of Buenos Aires after 21 this Tuesday set off alarms for a fire in a Recoleta building. A group of neighbors had to escape to the terrace due to the amount of smoke, although the situation was controlled less than two hours later.

The fire, which originated from unknown causes, started in an apartment on the fifth floor of a building on 700 Juncal Street.

​Five fire crews moved there. They found a conscious woman inside the burning building, whom they managed to evacuate without injury.

The City Police informed Clarín that in the place, which consists of 13 floors, they had to also help nine people whoThey were taken to the terrace, due to the smoke that made breathing difficult. Among them was an older adult who decompensated, but without major consequences.

The rest of the neighbors remained in their apartments while firefighters intervened.

From SAME they reported that they assisted the owner of the burning apartment. She underwent a clinical check-up and it was not necessary to transfer her to a medical center.

At the same time, the Aid Guard evaluated the general structure of the building and reported that it is in no danger, so the situation was brought under control after 22:00.
