The novel coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 200,000 people in Latin America and the Caribbean, including nearly three quarters in Brazil and Mexico, according to a report made by AFP from official sources Sunday at 08:30 GMT.

With a total of 200,212 deaths (for 4,919,054 cases), Latin America and the Caribbean is the second region hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, behind Europe (210,435 deaths, 4,919,054 cases) .

In total, 685,192 deaths (17,868,148 cases) have been recorded worldwide.

Brazil (93,563 dead), Mexico (47,472) are the most affected Latin American countries, followed by Peru (19,408), Colombia (10,330) and Chile (9,533).
