Prime Minister Netanyahu is currently conducting a tour of Beit Shemesh ahead of the night curfew that will begin tonight (Tuesday) in cities and neighborhoods across the country due to the spread of the corona virus.

The areas in the city where the closure will take place: Ramat Beit Shemesh A and C neighborhoods and Menucha and Nahala.

As part of the restrictions imposed on the red cities, educational institutions in their territory will be closed, except for special education, day care centers, frameworks for at-risk youth and private kindergartens up to age 3. As a result, about 18,000 students living in the above neighborhoods will remain in homes.

This is about half of the city's students.

Goel Vaknin, a father of five who lives in the Ramat Beit Shemesh III neighborhood, was angry about the decision to impose a night curfew and close the education system in these neighborhoods: "The closure is not justified in the whole country. Without clear information about the sources of infection, the closure is not helpful but only disrupts life. "The livelihoods of the people and the education system," he told Israel Today.

"In our ultra-Orthodox education, there is no distance learning. The child cannot study in zoom. Distance learning is far from being learning. It is a disruption of life to no avail."

Vaknin warned: "The public no longer has confidence in the system. People will come to confrontations with the police. There are those who have nothing to eat, who live on charities. This is a very severe economic, mental and educational harm."

As you may recall, the Corona Cabinet today approved a list of cities and neighborhoods where it will be banned from leaving homes for more than 500 meters (excluding essential needs) in the evening hours only until September 15th.

As stated, as part of the restrictions the educational institutions in the red cities will not operate (except for the frameworks mentioned above), this along with a requirement to close businesses (not including pharmacies and food stores).

Prohibition of gatherings of more than ten people in open space and 20 in closed space.

Police are preparing for the closure.

Deputy Commissioner Superintendent Moti Cohen held a situation assessment in the afternoon with the district and division commanders. At the end of the discussion, Superintendent Cohen said: "The Israel Police is prepared to implement the political echelon decision and carry out surveillance and enforcement of night closures.

The increased police preparedness that will begin tonight comes after a particularly long and intense period, in which Israeli police officers work around the clock to enforce regulations and maintain public health alongside other tasks.

"We will continue to enforce the violations, but even now our enforcement policy will continue to rely first and foremost on discourse, advocacy, discretion and mobilizing the public for cooperation - and this is my expectation from every commander and policeman who performs the task. "The public is expected to follow the provisions of the law and obey the instructions of the police, because only together will we be able to maintain the health of us all and curb the spread of the virus."

At the same time, the Corona Cabinet is expected to convene the next day to discuss the possibility of imposing a closure on the entire country, in order to stem the sharp rise in the rate of corona expansion.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has updated the morbidity data.

The infection record was broken again, as in the morning, and the number of people diagnosed yesterday was 3,425 out of a total of 40,456 tests (a positive rate of 8.8 percent).

The number of patients in critical condition is 467. At midnight, two more patients died and the number of victims is 1,031.

Number of respirators - 134.
