Walpertskirchen - There were controversial opinions in the Walpertskirchen municipal council on the color concept for the facade design of the communal apartment building with ten apartments on the main street.
Result: the architect has to present alternatives.
The fact that the striking building with a plaster structure should only be painted in white and gray tones according to the ideas of the architectural office X 3 was criticized by the majority.
It was feared that the very compact and large building complex with this sober color scheme would look more like a cool industrial building and not like a friendly residential building.
CSU councilor Jochen Göß suggested wood applications in order to consciously adapt the modern building to the rural area.
Goess had brought photos with him.
His idea of retrospectively fitting the facade with wooden elements did not find a majority, but the proposal made by SPD councilor Beate Aust did.
She pleaded for cozy color accents in deep brick red and also showed images.
With ten to five votes, the council voted for the architecture office to create an alternative color concept for comparison.

Architect Markus Steffelbauer was clearly not very enthusiastic about this decision.
CSU councilor Josef Heilmeier wanted to know why he favored the white-gray variant.
The architect replied that they “made a conscious decision” to opt for a classically elegant color scheme for modern architecture.
The local councilors Christian Büchlmann and Josef Hötscher had no problems with the gray and white solution.
This color combination is trendy and an expression of contemporary building, they argued.
Sepp Rauch from the red-green list was strictly against it.
"Gray is overwhelming".
He was reminded of a “morgue”.
Yet Walpertskirchen is "a living community".
Fabian Fellermeier (CSU) spoke of a "gray block" that did not fit into the place.
SPD councilor Rita Reichwein referred to the proximity of the towering residential building to the street and was also in favor of a loosening up of the colors in a warm red tone.
Green Council Stephan Glaubitz pointed out that the new kindergarten opposite should be given red accents.
For this reason alone, this color should be taken up again as a connecting design element in multi-storey apartment building.
Anton Renner (CSU / party-free) asked architect Steffelbauer which red he would choose - a warm, earthy red tone was the answer.
Since there are many gradations here, Steffelbauer ultimately offered to bring a red sample to the town hall.
He also suggested having a test coat applied to a section of the facade for both variants.
Beate Aust's suggestion to consult the local master painter Georg Heilmeier as a specialist was also taken up.
