United States suspends private flights to Cuba 0:50
(CNN Spanish) -
Despite the fact that in 1999, during an event of the Cuban-American National Foundation in Miami, Donald Trump said that he would refuse to invest in real estate in Cuba until the country was free from the Castro regime, years later he apparently changed his mind and had the intention of doing business in the Caribbean island, when applying for the registration of its trademark in 2008.
According to the database of the Cuban Industrial Property Office, on October 29, 2008 a registration application was submitted in the name of Donald J. Trump with the address of the Trump Organization in New York.
Within the services classification section, the registry included real estate, hotel services, casinos, restaurants and dozens more.

On March 3, 2010, the application was approved, and the registry expired in 2018. To date, there is no record that Trump has made any investment in the island.
The data was revealed in an article Tuesday in the Miami Herald.
According to the Florida newspaper, they requested a reaction from the White House but were referred to the Trump Organization, which also did not respond to their request.

CNN also asked the White House and the Trump Organization about their reaction to Tuesday's article, and is awaiting a response.
Since Trump is president of the United States, his government has intensified sanctions against Cuba.
This Wednesday Americans visiting the island were prohibited from buying cigars, rum or staying in hotels owned by the Cuban government.
In June 2019, it implemented restrictions on Americans traveling to the island through organized tour groups, such as some of the educational and cultural trips, and banned American cruise ships from landing in the country.
