Bordeaux: evacuation of a squat

Nearly 100 accommodation places had been mobilized for the shelter of vulnerable groups, according to a press release which specifies that 29 people wished to be accommodated.

The vast majority of the occupants of the squat wanted to leave with vehicles and caravans.

48 people were summoned for examinations of their right to remain in the territory.

In recent months, the police had intervened about fifty times after reports from residents and neighboring businesses for theft, assaults, brawls, noise.

Unauthorized electrical connections had also led to cuts, according to the prefecture.

Observers from Médecins du Monde, who speak of 400 evacuees, denounced an initiative taken "

in the midst of a health crisis

" and when the weather conditions are bad.
