The state of Georgia only has just over 47,000 ballots to be counted, but
the vote could take days
to finalize because the margin between President Donald Trump and the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, is so small that it will depend on counting ballots from the foreign, military bases and review others with small errors.
"We do not know how long it will take,"
Gabriel Sterling, head of the vote management system for the state of Georgia, said Thursday afternoon, adding that they technically have up to eight days to present a consistent and definitive result.
"We hope to clarify the result as soon as possible," said the official, who did not want to set a deadline to incorporate the
more than 47,000 ballots
that remain to be counted and that include votes from abroad or others with small errors that are corrected by hand. one by one and with the presence of delegates from the two major parties.

"There are still ballots (by mail) that are coming in, ballots that have to be corrected, others that are provisional (and depend on later identification)," Sterling explained.
Trump maintains an advantage of 12,000 votes in Georgia
with close to the total of the vote, but there are still ballots that in another scenario would be processed in the next few days and would not significantly change the calculation, but this year they could turn the election results around presidential elections in this key state.
Just over 17,000 ballots come from Chatham County, where the city of Savannah is located,
so the balance could tip in Biden's favor
, as Democrats tend to have more support in urban areas.
"We are going to have to do a recount for president, surely,"
said Sterling, something that however would only be addressed if requested by any of the candidates.
