The Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, who according to his campaign is about to achieve 270 electoral votes and thus be able to proclaim himself the winner, has transferred his defense of an exhaustive scrutiny until the last ballot on Twitter this Thursday.
In response to President Donald Trump, who refuses to admit his disadvantage not only through litigation but also by uttering threatening capital letters on his favorite social network, the former vice president of Barack Obama has repeated that "each and every vote must be counted ”.
The message was echoed by his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris.
"Patience, friends.
The votes are being counted, and we are fine where we are, "wrote the veteran senator from Delaware, who this Thursday has not appeared in public, giving the informative role to his campaign director, Jen O'Malley Dillon, and his legal advisor, Bob Bauer.
The two held a teleconference on Thursday morning, in which the cautious optimism that Democrats displayed on Wednesday was transformed into determined belief in the possibility of victory.
"Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States," said the campaign manager, something that will possibly be confirmed this Thursday, he stressed, although in some competing states it could be delayed until the weekend.
"Biden is on a clear course for victory," added the director, confident that between today and tomorrow the scrutiny in Nevada, Arizona and Pennsylvania can conclude.
“In Pennsylvania it is close to parity, although there are about 600,000 votes to be counted, but before the end of the day we will have won that State by an appreciable margin.
Do not look at the small margin of difference in Nevada either, because it will narrow in our favor, ”explained the head of Biden's electoral team.
"Arizona is going to take longer, the scrutiny probably won't end until tomorrow [Friday]."
For his part, Biden's legal advisor affirmed that the demands presented by Trump to stop the scrutiny in some states “have no legal basis and are only based on suspicions, for example that of an observer who believed he saw something suspicious in a room after having come out of it.
There are also absurd accusations that at a table the votes had been duplicated ... but the entire process of the scrutiny is public, there is no deception, "said Bauer, who accused the Republican of setting up a smoke machine" of aggressive misinformation and theater politician".
Although displaying the same prudence as in previous days, Biden announced on Wednesday what will be his first measure as the 46th president of the United States: return the country to the Paris Climate Agreement.
And he did it, precisely, the same day that the Donald Trump Administration officially abandoned the international pact against global warming.
“Today the Trump Administration has removed the US from the Paris Agreement;
within 77 days, a Biden Government will adhere to it again, "he tweeted, referring to the period of time that will elapse until next January 20, when the president-elect takes office.
