This morning (Sunday), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, on his election victory.

Netanyahu wrote on his Twitter account in English: "Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Joe, we have had a long and warm personal relationship for almost 40 years, and I know you as a good friend of Israel."

Netanyahu also wrote: "I expect to work with both of you and further strengthen the special alliance between the United States and Israel."

The Prime Minister also thanked the outgoing President Donald Trump: "Thank you for the friendship you have shown to the State of Israel and me personally, for recognizing Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, for standing with Iran, for the historic peace agreements and for bringing the alliances to new heights."

President Reuven Rivlin congratulated Biden and invited him to visit Israel.

"The strategic alliance between our countries is stronger than any political leadership. I have no doubt that the special relationship and the multifaceted cooperation between us will prosper and be strengthened in the future as well. In the name of the people of Israel, I wish you great success."

He also thanked outgoing President Donald Trump: "Thank you for the four years you have worked to strengthen the security of the State of Israel and to build a peaceful relationship between it and its neighbors."
