Three days after he was announced by the media in the United States as the winner of the presidential election, Joe Biden was today (Tuesday) recognized for his victory by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan sent a letter congratulating Joe Biden and Camela Harris on their election victory and wrote: "I congratulate you on your success in the election and hereby convey my best wishes for peace and prosperity to the entire American people."

In a letter, carefully worded and diplomatically, Erdogan expressed hope that cooperation with Washington would increase.

"The challenges we face today, both internationally and regionally, require us to strengthen and develop cooperation and relations between us, based on the same values and interests," the Turkish president wrote.

"We in Ankara are determined to work closely with the new US administration in the near future and believe that strengthening the alliance and cooperation between the countries will contribute to world peace," Erdogan wrote.

Erdogan, along with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been among recent world leaders to congratulate the US president-elect and experts estimate that this is due to Biden's position during his term as vice president against Erdogan's regime and his offer to support the Turkish opposition.
