The secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Saeb Erekat, has died, according to a notification on social media from the Fatah movement, as well as an official from Erekat's office in the PLO.
He was 65 years old.
"Fatah is in mourning for its great national son, Dr. Saeb Erekat," reads a post on Fatah's social media.
Erekat contracted coronavirus and was being treated at a Jerusalem hospital.
