The refusal of outgoing US President Donald Trump to recognize last week's election results does not stop him from making plans for the day after the White House - and according to US media reports, he intends to set up a new media company to compete with Fox News.

According to a report on the Axios news site, a "black cat" has passed between Trump and the conservative news network.

The president, whom the network was once particularly fond of, recently complained quite a bit about not getting the same fan coverage from the network as in the past.

Complaints peaked on Election Day, when Fox News was the only major network to announce that Biden had won in the state of Arizona, despite vigorous protests from the White House.

Trump intends, according to the report, not to set up "just" a TV channel, but an entire digital media company - a much more expensive and complex project - believing in his ability to deliver Fox viewers to it.

"He plans to destroy Fox, no doubt," said a source close to the president's plan.

At the same time, there is growing speculation among Trump's advisers that he may never admit to a loss to Joe Biden.

"Don't expect him to admit his loss," one of his advisers told NBC.

"He's more likely to say something like 'We can not trust the results, but I do not challenge them.'"

Another adviser said that at the end of the legal battle that Trump is planning, he will "recognize the results and say we will never know how accurate they are."

One way or another, insiders have agreed that the stage has not yet come for the outgoing president to give up his fight.

The president's unwillingness to admit the loss has led Biden's staff to hold hearings and arrive in front of officials who have recently left office, instead of doing so in front of current government officials.

For example, a team led by a former senior State Department official manages contacts with foreign leaders, even without the secure phone lines and government translation services.

Trump's conduct even causes some Republicans to lose patience with him.

Republican Sen. Oklahoma State Rep. James Lancford, a member of the Senate oversight committee, said Tuesday that if Biden does not begin receiving the daily presidential intelligence briefing by the end of the week, he will have no choice but to intervene.

"This should happen regardless of what happens with the election results," the senator said in an interview with a local radio station in Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, Biden chose Baron Klein, a 59-year-old lawyer of Jewish descent, to serve as chief of staff at the White House.

The two began working together in the late 1980s, and have since been considered close.

Klein has extensive connections at Capitol Hill, and he served as Biden's chief of staff when he served as Barack Obama's vice president from 2017-2009.

Another advantage that Klein had in his favor was that he had previously served as "Tsar Ebola" in the Obama administration, and was the one who headed the task force to fight the Ebola epidemic, an experience that would surely benefit the new administration in its fight against coronavirus, which continues to break US records. An important figure for me throughout the many years we have worked together.

"We rescued the American economy from one of the most severe crises in its history in 2009, and in 2014 we overcame a frightening public-health crisis," Biden declared.
