For more than six months, frontline health workers have been fighting COVID-19 tirelessly day after day. This battle may cause permanent scars for many of them. 2016 CNN hero Brad Ludden and his nonprofit First Descents often offer free outdoor adventure retreats to young adults with cancer and multiple sclerosis. During the pandemic, the organization realized that it could help a completely different community, which needed to heal as well. First Descents now offers retreats to frontline healthcare workers, where they provide a safe place to reflect, connect, and overcome the trauma they have experienced.
