Lunch care in Wall: moving to a container or a house with a garden?

The lunchtime care for primary school students in Wall is well received, but is currently shaky.

Not only that a supervisor was absent at short notice.

The community is also looking for new accommodation because the school is getting too tight.

If necessary, a container should be set up.

Warngau -

The bad news reached the town hall a few days ago.

One member of the three-person lunch care team at the Waller School has reported sick and cannot be used until further notice.

“We are urgently looking for a replacement,” says treasurer Anton Kaunzner when asked.

Until an illness replacement is found, the care offer is reduced to two days of the week, Mondays and Thursdays

.

In addition to the personnel problem, a spatial cliff threatens.

"The demand for longer care after school is increasing," said Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) at the latest meeting of the municipal council.

Five to twelve children, depending on the day of the week, currently stay in the building after class has ended, sometimes until 4 p.m.

The previous solution of using free classrooms in the Waller school building will soon reach its limits, the town hall chief fears.

It gets too tight at school - and too loud

“We're on thin ice there,” says Thurnhuber.

By the beginning of the next school year at the latest, it will be too cramped - and too loud - for lunch care at school.

Because when the lessons are over for one of the children, “they should and want to move”, the mayor said.

In the neighboring classroom, however, there are often lessons that require concentration.

"It doesn't work together anymore," concludes Thurnhuber, "we have to outsource."

Just where?

A solution is in sight in the medium term.

In the foreseeable future, the Waller kindergarten is to have a two-group extension with a "space for movement" that the neighboring school can use;

lunch care should also find a home here.

But that won't work in a hurry, for after-school care an interim domicile must be available by autumn 2021 at the latest.

The town hall put out feelers.

Thurnhuber presented a container solution to the local council: The modules could be placed on a communal property on Mangfallweg.

Kaunzner estimated the costs for three years at around 250,000 euros, including development.

However, the mayor indicated that a cheaper interim solution was within reach: "The municipality was offered a house with a garden for rent in the area in question." An initial inspection had been promising.

Container on Mangfallweg?

Local council postpones decision

As a "reserve resolution", however, the mayor wanted the municipal council to give the container solution general approval.

"Can't we put it on hold until it is clear whether we will get the house?" Suggested Sepp Gschwendtner (FWG).

Leonhard Obermüller (CSU) also liked that: “Let's see how the negotiations are going first.

Maybe there are other houses that come into question. "

Thurnhuber agreed to postpone the topic to the next meeting.

It was important for him to send a clear signal to the parents: “The community takes care of lunch.

We want to put together an offer that is as tailored as possible. "

In the short term, it is now important to find reinforcements for lunch care.

The new force should take over 13 hours a week, from Monday to Thursday.

The position is advertised, says Kaunzner.

We hope to receive many applications by December 7th at the latest.
