In Corona times, the church has to break new ground to bring the message of Jesus closer to people.

Many pastors and volunteers in the Erding district are involved here.

Klettham -

The pastors of the Deanery Conference in Erding celebrated the Chapter Year with a service in the Klettham parish church of St. Vinzenz.

They remembered not only the deceased pastors of the deanery, but also all pastors, employees in the church foundations and volunteers.

Dean Michael Bayer celebrated the mass with his deputy, Altenerding Pastor Dr.

Jan-Christoph Vogler, and thanked everyone for their commitment “in an unprecedented time”.

He asked the question: What is important at this time?

For him, the preaching of Jesus' message in the word and above all in the deed it shows is existential, said Bayer.

He gave examples of how pastors made the good news come true in an imaginative way - for example when Erding's pastor Martin Garmaier walked through Erding with the burning Easter candle or when the Tadingen pastor Christoph Stürzer and many other participants called “Kirch dahoam” into being.

Church services are still streamed onto the Internet from the Tading pilgrimage church.

Bayer also spoke of the dark side of the pandemic, apart from the physical symptoms of the disease.

This dark side becomes visible like in a magnifying glass at Munich Airport, where many fear for their jobs.

He also pointed out that - the longer the pandemic dragged on - the need in town and country would increase and Caritas was dependent on donations because it was not supported by government funds from the Corona pot to help people in need to be able to help.

Bayer said "God will reward everyone who works in word and deed".

After the service, the committee decided to allow the monthly dean's conference to take place after the hygiene and safety measures where possible in order to maintain the exchange and to provide each other with advice.

“Because the church wants to continue to be there for the people, especially in times of crisis,” said Bayer.
