The corona crisis leads to losses in all economic areas.

The iodine sulfur bath in Bad Wiessee also felt this.

In the local council, the new head Helmut Karg drew a conclusion.

  • Loss in the iodine-sulfur bath increases to 815,000 euros in 2020.

  • The new managing director, Helmut Karg, presents the Bad Wiessee councilor's first assessment.

  • Over 50 percent of the staff gone.

Bad Wiessee

- The Corona crisis is causing losses in all economic areas.

The iodine sulfur bath in Bad Wiessee also felt this.

In the local council, the new head Helmut Karg drew a conclusion.

Karg, who took office at the beginning of October as the successor to Renate Zinser, made it clear in his report that no black numbers are expected for the coming year either.

At the same time he was able to record a small success.

Despite the pandemic, revenues increased in 2020 compared to the previous year.

First the month-long closure due to the move from the interim solution to the new building, then the lockdown in spring and then the second in November: The bathroom had difficult conditions this year, Karg explained.

That hits with a minus.

Several factors come together here.

After a loss of 450,000 euros in 2019, a total of 815,000 euros was lost in 2020.

The restructuring measures in October would have resulted in additional double burdens: Personnel changes were made, more than half of the employees left the company.

“In some cases, that did not happen without dismissal complaints,” Karg admitted.

This change also made severance payments necessary.

However, there was a slight increase in revenue.

The bathroom had generated 252,000 euros in the previous year, this year the income was 313,000 euros, an increase of 61,000 euros.

Iodosulfur bath Bad Wiessee: Measures for better utilization

Karg then reported on measures planned or already taking effect in the past year.

These include the redesign of the organizational structure as well as the establishment of a system for utilization analysis.

While the occupancy in the bathtub area has reached a very good level at almost 81 percent, Karg sees a need for optimization in other areas: for example, the occupancy rate for the spray baths is less than seven percent, for inhalations around twelve percent.

The optimization of personnel capacities is accordingly a project for 2021. Here, a utilization of 60 percent would be aimed for.

New iodine sulfur bath wants to advertise more customers

In Corona times you would have to "drive with the handbrake on" when advertising posters at the bus shelters, Karg emphasized.

One should not expose oneself to the suspicion that wellness is being offered here forbidden.

For this purpose, the marketing via an online shop and various advertising and discount campaigns should bring customers.

Advertising space on buses should also help to raise awareness of the bathroom, as well as the renewal of the banner on Kreuzstrasse and additional signposts.

Iodosulfur bath Bad Wiessee: Opened and restructuring already in view

In January 2021, the pool can record a gain with the opening of a practice for naturopathy and physiotherapy.

For the Kubus C, the question arises whether half of the spray baths will be replaced.

You could set up a steam sauna for two people or use the room as a changing room, said Karg.

A concept also still needs to be developed for the Kubus D.

It could be used as a practice room or as an extension of the therapy area.

One goal is to extend the length of time customers stay.

For 2021, the managing director is also planning to supplement and expand the product range, for example by introducing combination and merchandising products.

The extension of the opening times is already certain: instead of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., it is now open until 3 p.m. on weekdays.

The planned price increase will be made "in due course," said Karg.

The subsequent discussion showed that the new managing director enjoyed the full support of the committee.

Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD) thanked him and his employees for their commitment even in difficult times.
