The conviction by a Milan court of the Brazilian soccer player Robson de Souza, better known as Robinho, for an alleged gang rape of a young woman, represents one of the worst moments for an athlete who was even considered to be Pelé's heir.
According to the soccer player's lawyer, it is impossible to prove that six people perpetrated a sexual act without the consent of the woman.
Robinho will be able to appeal the sentence after 90 days.
