When her dog got worse and worse, Ashley Mackie made a touching decision: Maggie May should be allowed to play in her beloved snow one last time.
Cairngorms / Scotland - For
sled dog
Maggie May there was nothing
better
in her life than being
able to run around
in the
snow
.
However, at the age of nine she became very ill.
For months, the Alaskan Malamute lady suffered from a severe form of arthritis - the
pain
kept getting worse.
Soon her owner, Ashley Mackie, realized that nothing in this world would help her pet anymore.
When the
bitch
got worse and worse, she made a sad decision from Schottin.
Maggie May was supposed to be put to sleep to end her agony - but not without having played one last time in her beloved
snow
.

The problem: Ashley Mackie was running out of time -
snow
was far from announced for her home.
For this reason, the 38-year-old went on
a trip to the mountains
with her
dog
.
She hoped to find at least some snow there.
"Maggie May has always felt at home in the Cairngorms," said Ashley Mackie of the British newspaper
Daily Mail
, who she told her touching story.
"When I realized that the
snow would
n't come to her, I just had to take her to the snow."
And she was lucky: as she
drove
deeper and deeper into the Scottish
highlands
, the first white peaks were already visible in the distance.
The sight broke Ashley Mackie's heart and made her smile at the same time, as she wrote in a post on Facebook.
She even found a small area of snow for her
dog
close to a parking lot
.
Emotional excursion: a short time later the terminally ill bitch has to be put to sleep
"We sat there for two hours and enjoyed the scenery while Maggie tossed the
snow
- it was beautiful," the Scottish woman told the
Daily Mail
.
The sick
dog was able
to play in the wintry landscape
one last time
- as far as her terrible illness and pain allowed.
After two hours, Ashley Mackie had to make the hardest and most emotional drive home of her life.
“My beautiful Maggie May is going to heaven on Monday.
[...] In the last few months I kept whispering to her that the snow was coming.
[...] Today I had to keep my promise and made sure that she could see the snow one last time. "
