The Court of Cassation of Milan confirmed this Thursday in second instance the conviction of the soccer player Robson de Souza, better known as Robinho, for an alleged group rape perpetrated on a woman in 2013 in a nightclub in that city of Italy.

The information was confirmed to CNN by Jacopo Gnocchi, attorney for the alleged victim.

In November 2017, the footballer was sentenced to 9 years in prison and the payment of compensation of 60,000 euros, equivalent to more than 72,600 dollars, in addition to legal expenses.

At that time Robinho pleaded not guilty.

According to the soccer player's lawyer, it is impossible to prove that six people perpetrated a sexual act without the consent of the young woman.

CNN continues to try to establish contact with the team that defends the footballer.

So far he has not been able to contact him.

Robinho may appeal the sentence after a period of 90 days.

In the event that it does not do so, the sentence should be complied with in a period not exceeding 45 days, with confirmation in the third instance in the Court of Cassation in Rome.
