The Washington Post revealed that the White House has ordered the President of the US Food and Drug Administration, Stephen Hahn, to authorize the Pfizer vaccine or to resign.

A senior source in the US administration said that White House chief of staff Mark Meadows informed Hahn in a phone call yesterday of the need to give permission to produce and license the vaccine produced by Pfizer or to resign.

A second source in the US administration familiar with the phone call revealed that the head of Meadows told Han that "his job is in danger if the emergency use permission is not issued before Saturday."

Trump had criticized the US Food and Drug Administration in a tweet yesterday, describing it as "a big, old and slow turtle."

For his part, Dr. Ashish Jha, Dean of the School of Public Health at Brown University, criticized the pressure exerted by the White House on the administration, noting that it "undermines public confidence in the vaccine," and said, "Every time the president intervenes, you see vaccine confidence decreases by 10 percent."
