White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows today (Friday) instructed Stephen Hahn, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to resign if the agency does not approve Pfizer's vaccine for Corona by the end of the day, officials in the Washington Post reported.
The threat comes hours after President Donald Trump tweeted on his Twitter account that the FDA is a "big, old and slow turtle" in its handling of vaccines, urging Bahan to "approve the vaccines now."
The president added: "Stop playing games and start saving lives."
The warning led the FDA to speed up the schedule for approving the first vaccine for corona from Sunday morning to evening.
A White House official declined to comment on the matter, saying "we are not responding to private calls."
