A foreign citizen who arrived in Mexico was confirmed as the first carrier of the new variant of covid-19, which was first detected in the United Kingdom, reported this Sunday at a press conference the director general of Epidemiology of the Mexican Ministry of Health, José Luis Alomía.
Alomía indicated that it is a 56-year-old patient who is a citizen of the United Kingdom, who arrived in Mexico City from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on December 28 and who the following day traveled to Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

The patient works for an "international" company and upon arrival in the country was asymptomatic, the official said.
