The authorities of the state of Veracruz, Mexico, are investigating the death of 12 people that occurred in Las Choapas, in the south of the region.

In a message posted on his Facebook account, the governor of Veracruz Cuitláhuac García Jiménez indicated this Monday that the first inquiries indicate that a group of ranchers and their assistants in the area between Las Choapas and Uxpanapa "divided."

An exchange of abuse and threats would have caused a confrontation.

The Ministry of Public Security reported this Monday on its social networks that it established checkpoints and patrols.
