Damascus - Sana
Whispers in Damascus is the title of the art exhibition held by the Arab Cultural Center in Mezze, by the Iraqi plastic artist, Dr. Salam Faisal, in which he presented fifty oil paintings of various schools and contents.
Faisal embodied in paintings, faces, places, and multiple psychological states between the abstract and impressionist school, in which he expressed the emotions, values and sentiments within him.
Dr. Faisal explained that this exhibition is his first in Damascus as an expression of his love for its civilization, sanctity and heritage, and an expression of his gratitude and devotion to this brotherly and ancient city, pointing out the aesthetic of old Damascus, its gates and lanes, and the similarities to the old Baghdad neighborhoods that literati called Shanashil.
Faisal pointed to his feeling of love and faith when walking in the old streets of Damascus, which give him a deep feeling that he worked to drop on the cloth, walking to the faces in the works in which he expressed feelings of prayer, joy, sadness and other things, in addition to abstract works that symbolize customs, traditions, nature and man.
The artist, Decara Al-Daher, explained that the exhibition uses the impressionist and abstract method and the formation of expressive dreamy faces, as the face is the key to the personality and through it he expressed the spiritual link between man and the sky, pointing out that the colors suggest joy despite the artist's deep inner suffering.
Mohamed Dabour, a plastic artist, described the exhibition as beautiful, considering that the artist's use of brutal colors is due to his resorting to natural colors without confusion, noting the formation of the old lanes that the artist succeeded in.
