An earthquake measuring 5.2 degrees struck southwest of the Chilean city of Santa Cruz today.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake occurred 42 km southwest of Santa Cruz in Chile, and its epicenter was located at a depth of 36.39 km.
Chile is located in an area called the "Ring of Fire" that surrounds the Pacific Basin and is prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity.
