Altomünster - Marlon Köhler, youth worker and head of the Juz Altomünster, pointed out two problem areas to the local council.

One is the drug scene.

The parish youth worker Marlon Köhler presented his annual report to the Altomünster parish council - with two problem areas.

The first was derived from the report by Sylvia Neumeier, head of the Drobs drug advice center in Dachau.

In the last meeting, she spoke of a drug scene that - like mostly in the communities of the S-Bahn line - also in Altomünster, has long been everyday life.

Köhler, meanwhile, campaigned for confidence in the Juz at the train station.

“The problems that exist are imported,” says Köhler.

But he is in constant contact with young people and parents.

When asked by Maria Buchberger (CSU) whether he could expand street work at the station area, “so it doesn't get worse,” Köhler replied: “That's a drop in the ocean.

If I show up, they'll just leave and come back when I'm gone.

That doesn't stop anyone from consuming drugs. ”However, Köhler expressly emphasized his willingness to expand street work if the community so wished.

Basically he is always on standby anyway.

The second problem arises from the corona restrictions.

As a result, the burden in the families is very high, not only because parents have become teachers, but because the children and young people are now under the supervision of the authorities for 24 hours.

For parents who both work, or single parents, it is even worse.

This not only increased the need for discussion among the young people, but also that of the parents.

Contact with parents and young people will continue to be maintained.

After a short time, the Juz had already adapted to the changed circumstances.

There are now much more or almost exclusively online and contactless offers, especially of course during holiday periods.

According to Marlon Köhler, online cooking with Altomünster star chef Michael Huber during the Whitsun holidays, pottery and board games were particularly well received.

40 to 50 different children have played more than 487 times, according to one of the figures from the statistics of the 47-year-old, who has been doing “youth work in all forms and club sports” for 32 years.

As he told the committee, Marlon Köhler is actually a career changer and was already employed on a 30-hour basis under Mayor Konrad Wagner.

Köhler is the contact person for around 790 young people between the ages of 10 and 18 from all social and academic backgrounds, as he emphasized.

One of his activities takes place in Juz.

The youth center at Altomünster train station is usually open on Tuesdays and Fridays.

60 to 70 young people visit the Juz per month, of which around 35 are boys and 25 girls, 30 young people per week come regularly, according to him.

Much emphasis is placed on joint design.

The focus is on educational and inclusive work with children and young people with and without handicaps.

Outside of the regular opening times, there is a lot of organizational work.

Just as important to Köhler is advising, accompanying and looking after children, young people and families with problems of a school, professional or family nature. SABINE SCHÄFER
