Today, the Christian denominations in Syria that follow the Western calendar celebrated the glorious Easter holiday, the feast of the Resurrection of Christ, the Messenger of love and peace, by holding prayers and services in churches and places of worship, while applying the precautionary measures to combat the Coronavirus.

In the Melkite Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Naiah in the Zeitoun Quarter in Damascus, a religious mass was held under the presidency of His Beatitude Patriarch Yusef Al-Absi, Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East, for the Melkite Roman Catholics and assisted by the Patriarchal Attorney General Archbishop Nicolas Antipa and a number of venerable priests, while the cathedral choir served the mass.

Patriarch Al-Absi said in a speech to him that the testimony of the apostles about the resurrection is of great importance in the subject of faith because it is a testimony of life and that the Church invites us to continue bearing this testimony and to transform and renew our life and match it to the thought and morals of Jesus Christ as happened to the apostles.

He added: To include our prayers for all people, especially those suffering from poverty and distress, and let us pray for our country so that the Coronavirus pandemic will be lifted from it, and the cloud that has been heavy and dark on it for years will subside, and let us pray for our citizens and those responsible for us, especially President Bashar al-Assad .. Let us pray for our martyrs and our army and pray from Yes, our Church throughout the world and for the sake of the universal Church. Let us put a place in our prayers for forgiveness and forgive one another for the sake of the resurrection.

At the end of his speech, Patriarch Al-Absi beseeched God Almighty to protect Syria, its brave army, its people and its leader, President Al-Assad.

In the National Evangelical Church, a religious mass was held under the presidency of Priest Boutros Zaour, the spiritual head of the Evangelical Church in Damascus, head of the National Evangelical Synod in Syria and Lebanon. The mass was attended by Pastor Samuel Hanna, Vice President of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community in Syria and Lebanon.

Pastor Za'our indicated in his speech that Syria, with the cohesion and unity of its people, has triumphed over hatred, criminality, brutality, demons of the age and the enemies of humanity.

He pointed out that the Syrian people have suffered the most severe and harsh conditions that remind us of the suffering of Jesus, especially from murder, kidnapping and destruction, and today they are suffering from an unjust economic siege targeting their sons in their subsistence from the bats of darkness outside and inside this country of enemies, conspirators and greedy.

Pastor Zaour appealed to God to support and protect our people, our army, and the leader of the nation who leads our ship wisely to the port of peace, safety, stability and dignity.

Pastor Zaour concluded by saying: We pray for all the wounded, sick and those affected by the Corona epidemic.

In the St. Sarkis Armenian Orthodox Church in Damascus, a mass was held under the presidency of Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Archbishop of the Diocese of Damascus and its dependencies for the Armenian Orthodox, assisted by a number of priests.

Bishop Nalbandian said: “The glorious Passover gave great fruits, and the first of these fruits was that it established a new life for us and gave us the strength to live a life of righteousness and holiness, practice righteous deeds, and present a bright picture of love.” Adding: “In our love and unity is the way to our salvation and the salvation of our homeland and victory over the conspirators over our security. And our peace and our future, and let our homeland continue in a healthy and healthy way, and let us live in peace, bowed with reverence in the face of the sacrifices it has made and is still being made by our great army and its martyr heroes, among them and those who have stood for more than a decade in the face of everything that threatens our security and stability. ”

And Bishop Nalbandian prayed to God to grant Syria, its people and army victory over its enemies and to protect President Al-Assad and grant him health and strength.

In St. Anthony's Church “the Maronite Archdiocese of Damascus” in Bab Touma in Damascus, a Divine Liturgy was held under the presidency of Father Gabriel Ghanem and the church choir served the mass.

Father Ghanem drew in his speech to the lofty meanings of the glorious Easter and said: Celebrating this holiday is for all the world, for the rich and the poor and for the slave and the free, indicating that the return of peace to the world is through looking after the youth, keeping them away from what harms them and directing them to what is good for them, pointing out that the teachings of Christ confirm that we love each other We call upon us to forgive, confront evil with good, and forgive even our enemies and those who hate us.
