Tonight (Friday), Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana conducted a situation assessment following the events of recent days in the capital, Jerusalem, and clarified that the police will act harshly against violators of Arab order who attack Jews for racist reasons.

Following the assessment of the situation, which was attended by Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, Deputy Commissioner David Bitan, Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman, Border Police Commander Amir Cohen and other police officers, the Minister said he was strengthening the police and added: "This week's events The last in which Arabs attack Jews with an ultra-Orthodox appearance and upload them to networks are carried out on a nationalist / racist background, and are not 'pranks'.

That is how they should be treated. "

The minister detailed that in recent days the police have made 52 arrests following the incidents, saying that most of the suspects in these acts have been arrested, and those who have not been arrested - will be arrested.

He further said that in the coming days a condensation of the police forces in the capital is expected.

In addition, Ohana called on the justice system to "educate to stop, keep away, deter and impose heavy penalties to cut off the phenomenon."

Palestinian documentation: A Jew beaten by Arabs in East Jerusalem

As you may recall, in recent days there have been demonstrations and riots in the capital, which erupted after the distribution of a ticking video in which a young Arab was seen slapping an ultra-Orthodox on the light rail.

Jerusalem Arabs, for their part, began to demonstrate following the closure of the Nablus Gate in the Old City during Ramadan, due to corona restrictions.

Yesterday, riots by young Arabs took place in the Nablus Gate area, while at the same time the Lehavah organization held a "return to Jewish deterrence" demonstration, in which racist chants were heard. The police dispersed the two gatherings using hallucinations and stun grenades.

Among the violent incidents yesterday, a Jewish driver who came to pray at the Western Wall was attacked by several Arabs in the east of the city and he was rescued from the scene when he was lightly injured. This morning, a video was released documenting the attack, and the photographer reads: "Break the settler, break." The police said that an initial investigation revealed that the incident took place near Rockefeller in East Jerusalem. Arabs threw stones at Jardi's vehicle, which tried to flee the scene on foot. Then some young people started attacking him and eventually he turned to medical care.
