The beer gardens in the Erding district are open again.

At least some.

Others are still waiting for better weather.

District - The weather is not really cooperating yet, but outdoor catering is allowed to reopen in Bavaria - provided the incidence in the respective district is stable below 100. The emphasis here is on “may”.

Because by far not all companies have prepared their terraces or beer gardens.

Many are still waiting and hope that it will be warmer from June onwards.

Others, on the other hand, happily welcome the first guests of the season.

"People are hungry and want to get out," observed Michael Hildebrandt, operations manager of the Erdinger Weißbräu inn.

“We decided at relatively short notice to open up again and try the whole thing with a slightly smaller offer,” he says.

As a result, even the to-go business suffered somewhat: “Many people now sit down in the beer garden instead of taking their food with them.” The response from the guests is a “positive sign for gastronomy,” says the operations manager: “It drives you crazy It's fun to be back after such a long time. "

"Thank goodness the beer gardens are open again"

A few meters further on the other side of the street, the outside area of the mine is already open.

“It's nice to be able to sit somewhere again after such a long time and have a coffee,” said Bernhard van Hoof, who drove from Maria Thalheim to the district town on a relatively sunny Tuesday.

"Because I live in the country, it was already bearable for me without gastronomy, but I think it was certainly a hard time for the city dwellers."

The Erdinger couple Helga and Uwe Sadlowski could testify to this: “Thank God the beer gardens are open again,” said Helga Sadlowski.

She is also happy because the incidence in the district has been falling recently.

“We really couldn't wait.

The day before yesterday we were already having coffee, ”said Uwe Sadlowski.

Erding: Summer garden opens on June 3rd

David Ritter, who runs the Kennedy bar and the summer garden in Erding, has a completely different opinion.

“People do get sick.

We don't have any temperatures for the beer garden yet, ”he says.

The bar area at the Kennedy has already been prepared for a few days; it is shielded from the unattractive inner-city construction site by tarpaulins.

Looking at it is a wonderful view of a lake and mountains.

But the guests have to wait a few more days before they can enjoy the humorous view.

“It's no fun sitting outside with a jacket and scarf on,” says Ritter.

But soon the time will come: The Kennedy will reopen on June 1st, says the 36-year-old, and the summer garden will open two days later on June 3rd.

No chance without a roof

The Erdinger Herzogstubn host Thomas Eichloff is also waiting for June 1st to prepare his bar area.

“I have no roof.

It would work that way on certain days, but the weather is too inconsistent.

I couldn't keep the business going. ”The kitchen in the Herzogstubn is also still closed, there are only take-away drinks - much to the delight of the young people who gather at the Kleiner Platz on weekends.

Günter Helfenbein from the Hirschbachwirt in Forstern could hardly wait for the beer garden season.

“We have been open since we were allowed to open,” says the landlord.

He would also have hoped that the weather would play along, "but so far it has tended to let us down".

Planning is difficult in changeable weather: “You cannot estimate how many people are coming, so we still have a slightly stripped-down offer.” But that is not the only problem, says Helfenbein: “The rules, such as mandatory testing, are for many people incomprehensible.

We're explaining a lot, that's annoying. "

"We look forward to normality"

The Gasthaus Rauch in Grucking again offers the complete menu. "In the to-go shop we also had a little less, but since the beer garden has opened again, we have been offering the normal menu," says Rudolf Rauch. Unlike some of his colleagues, he didn't want to wait for good weather. After the five-month complete renovation, he wanted to open up straight away “and slowly start up again. There have been a lot of changes, so it was important that we familiarize ourselves a bit. "

Sonja Jarosch, who owns the Café Oggi in Dorfen, is also happy that things are going on again: “We are delighted that our guests can come back - and they are also happy to be willing to sit under the umbrella when it rains . ”On the Whitsun holidays she opened her terrace for the first time. According to the circumstances, she is satisfied with the number of guests and is optimistic: "Many have already been vaccinated, we are looking forward to normality."
