At about 12 noon today (27th), the police received multiple reports alleging that thick smoke was emitting from a lower floor of the Rose Building, No. 1 Polle Lane, Tsim Sha Tsui.
The firefighters arrived at the scene and dispatched a throat and a squad of breathing apparatus to fight the fire. After that, the fire was put out. In the incident, the eight men and women were rescued and they were all sober.
At the scene, it was seen that an elderly man was unwell after inhaling heavy smoke. He was sent to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. Many residents of the building were also evacuated to a safe place.
The case is still under investigation.
