[Dragon Boat Festival Weather] The weather in Hong Kong has been unstable recently, sometimes sunny and sometimes rainy.

The Observatory predicts that as the cloud belt covering the south China coast gradually becomes thinner, the weather in the area will improve and become hot tomorrow (6th).

However, a broad trough of low pressure will bring unstable weather to the northern South China Sea and the coast of South China in the next few days.

The Observatory explained that the broad trough of low pressure is also called the "monsoon trough." Since the location and size of the convective cloud clusters are highly random, whether Hong Kong will be affected by the related heavy rains will depend on the overall northward movement of the monsoon trough. The process and whether individual cloud groups will pass over Hong Kong.

Monday, June 14th is the Dragon Boat Festival. The Observatory expects sunshine for a short period of time, a few showers, and thunderstorms in some areas. The temperature in the urban area ranges from 28 to 32 degrees, and the temperature in Sheung Shui and Cheung Chau is as high as 34 degrees.

In addition, the tropical cyclone "Caiyun" will traverse the Ryukyu Islands today (5th) and gradually evolve into an extratropical cyclone.

After days of heavy rain, today is the "mang species" with 24 solar terms. Hong Kong is now in the sun after the rain. There is also a hint of coolness this morning. The lowest temperature in various districts fluctuates between 24 and 25 degrees.

According to the Observatory, the cloud belt affecting the coast of Guangdong is gradually thinning. It is expected that there will be sunshine for a short period of time this afternoon, and it will be generally cloudy tonight; there will be light to gentle northerly winds.

Looking forward to tomorrow (6th), there will be sunny and hot part of the time, and there will be showers and thunderstorms in the next two or three days.

According to the nine-day weather forecast, the Observatory expects that there will be sunshine during part of the day and showers in some areas; the temperature in the urban area will be between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius.

Until next Tuesday (8th), the sunshine is expected to be left off. The Observatory is expected to be generally cloudy next Tuesday with occasional showers and thunderstorms. The next two days will also be cloudy and rainy.

The monsoon trough visit weather will become unstable

The Observatory explained that if the monsoon trough visits again early next week, the weather in the South China Sea and the coast of Guangdong will become unstable.

During the summer in the northern hemisphere, the monsoon trough plays an important role in transporting water vapor from the Indian Ocean to the South China Sea, usually accompanied by vigorous convection activities.

Because the vast monsoon trough has no obvious axis, the location and size of the convective cloud clusters are highly random.

The Observatory pointed out that the current forecast of rainfall in computer models may be very different from the actual situation, and there are sometimes considerable differences between different computer models.

According to the latest computer model predictions, the monsoon trough in the middle of the South China Sea will move northward to the south China coast in the early to mid-term next week. By then, there may be another significant rainfall in Hong Kong.

"Colorful Clouds" is obviously weakened, it is difficult to determine its center position

In addition, at 12:00 noon today, the tropical depression "Caiyun" gathered about 270 kilometers west of Okinawa and is expected to move northeast at a speed of about 45 kilometers per hour across the Ryukyu Islands and gradually evolved into an extratropical cyclone.

The Central Meteorological Observatory of the Mainland stated that the "Colorful Cloud" was significantly weakened over the Northwest Pacific Ocean this morning, and it is currently difficult to determine its center position.

The Observatory issued a special reminder that heavy rains in wide areas, tropical storms passing 500 kilometers away from Caiyungang

The Observatory said last month became the hottest in history, May broke 6 high temperature records, and the second lowest rainfall in the first 5 months

The observatory issued a red rainstorm in the afternoon to warn of a waterspout on the Macau Friendship Bridge

Global Warming | The Observatory expects a clear upward trend in temperature this summer or less rainfall

The Observatory recorded 36.1 degrees as the hottest May day, ranking No. 3 in the high temperature list and only a short distance from No. 1
