Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke today (Monday) with Russian President Vladimir Putin - for the first time since taking office.
The two discussed several security and political issues and agreed to meet soon.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said that Bennett had thanked the President of Russia for his role in maintaining regional stability, and for assisting in the issue of prisoners and missing persons.
In addition, Bennett congratulated Putin on his congratulations on the formation of the government in Israel, and expressed his appreciation for the historical connection between the Russian people and the Jewish people.
The two also discussed the place of Russian aliyah in Israel.
