Because the standard rate of 446 euros for single people leaves little scope for many leisure activities.
But also the love life seems to be neglected, as a survey of the dating portal Gleichklang.de among 1032 members shows.
According to this, financially weak people, including Hartz IV recipients, are turned away far more often as relationship partners compared to normal earners.

The study shows clear differences between the sexes.
73 percent of women reject a potential partner whose income is on the Hartz IV level.
For men, money doesn't seem to play that big a role, only 32 percent don't want financially weak partners.
The higher the income, the greater the resentment.
People with higher incomes are not looking for a partner with little money.
Education, on the other hand, seems to have significantly less influence on partner searches.

The survey also addresses the reasons for reservations about potential partners at Hartz IV level.
Right at the front with around 76 percent is the desire for financial independence of the relationship partner.
Financially strong people do not want to be pushed into a provider role, which, for example, pays for all costs for joint activities such as vacation or going out.
Around half fear an unfavorable power structure within the relationship, which can be expressed in feelings of inferiority and envy of the destitute relationship partner.
Around a third shy away from financial exploitation and stress.
This also includes being loved just for the money or worrying about excessive financial burdens.
An interesting result is that in destitute relationship partners personality deficits such as low willpower, lack of drive or passivity are feared.
This also seems to feed prejudices about lazy and unmotivated long-term unemployed.
The question of guilt and individual considerations play a role.
People do not want a relationship with someone who is to blame for their own destitution.
There has to be a very good reason for being penniless if you get involved with the other in this situation.

The survey by Gleichklang.de has a serious background.
Accordingly, men have repeatedly reported to the portal who were only rejected because of their financial situation, including Hartz IV.
The graduate psychologist Dr.
Guido F. Gebauer, who supervised the study, advises the financially destitute members not to be discouraged, but to approach their partner search with optimism and confidence.
But that is easier said than done.
