"Only when the door opens can you easily see that it has something completely different, very inviting and pleasant," says architect Hagai Yaniv, who was selected for the renovation, planning and design task.

The couple, in their late fifties, hired his services, so that he could design the dream home for them, with a future thought of comfortable living in old age, and multiple accommodation options.

"The most beautiful thing they told me, at the end of the process, was that something so beautiful was created, that they could not even imagine it," Yaniv explains.

“My job comes with a lot of responsibility, and I can make clients unhappy or very happy with one decision,” he says.

Open and ventilated spaces that can be adapted to a number of scenarios without effort.

The highlights of the redesign, after renovation from end to end, and expansion of the house area from 170 square meters to 210 square meters - are the addition of an elevator, for ease of use and maximum accessibility, "Grandchildren's Kingdom" on the roof floor, built and added to the property, and spaces Open and ventilated to suit a variety of scenarios, without effort. Yaniv says that the couple, who raised their children in this house, wanted to adapt the house to the renewed needs, and allow them to comfortably entertain both their friends and their children and grandchildren.

Prior to the renovation, the ground floor was sloping with dividing walls, which delimited the kitchen, living room and dining area.

The guest toilet was narrow and uncomfortable and the staircase was closed and hidden behind a wall.

In addition, for many years there was an empty field next to the house, and about six years ago a residential house project was built on it, which blocked the view, making the yard less inviting, because of the proximity to houses.

"The yard was built in the shape of a rish, and access was only possible from one direction, which faces the houses, so it was abandoned," explains Yaniv.

All walls separating the entrance floor were removed.

Guest services have been increased (Photo: Lior Teitler)

Yaniv abolished the divisions on the entrance floor, opened the ground floor completely, except for the guest services and the shelter, and spaced the public areas that include the living room, kitchen and dining area.

Huge developers who have opened up in the walls bring the yard into the house, in a way that increases the surface area and affects the perception of the home space.

"The house for me does not end within the boundaries of the yard," he explains, "but the green goes in and actually increases the space."

Another green element that seems to enter the house is a beautiful green wall that has been placed, as a hiding tactic for the wall of the neighboring house, which is adjacent to the cottage.

"This spectacular wall in green weaves a kind of purple waterfall, from multi-season vegetation, that always retains its beautiful colors, and looks like a natural image," explains Yaniv.

"This wall has interesting ecological aspects, and it even manages to lower the temperature significantly, in a way that makes the yard more pleasant to stay in, even in summer."

An expression of the beliefs of the homeowners.

According to Yaniv, the owners of the house, people who believe, wanted to give expression to the fact that everything in their eyes comes from above.

Accordingly, a designer clutch was commissioned from COZY Studio, an element made of hammered metal combined with bent wood, engraved with a verse that makes it clear that abundance comes and goes in a circular fashion.

This spectacular element was placed in the entrance foyer, as an expression of their faith and humble character.

Color shimmers that give a twist to the space and a playful and precious image to the hearts of the tenants.

A wall covered with wood that looks like a black wooden cube forms the dining area, inside which is embedded a door leading to the guest toilet, and next to it a niche covered with warm oak, in which elements for display.

The color shimmers in the space provide a design twist, as a contrast to the soft, elegant and relaxed decor in the home spaces.

One of the most prominent color shimmers is that of the dining table, made of refined metal and painted in a colorful hamra shade.

Next to it, on the black wall hangs a precious image to the hearts of the homeowners, which adds colorful playfulness to the space.

"The touches of color become a kind of interesting game at home," Yaniv explains.

"On the one hand, the use of continuous materials such as floor coverings and calm wall shades, and on the other hand the use of colors through the dining table, furniture items and emphasis items that wash the house in color."

Thanks to the increasing developers the area of †‹вЂ‹ the house feels larger than it is.

The significant major change in the home was made possible thanks to the redesign of the developers, and the enjoyment of the natural resource of Palestine, is sunlight.

For this purpose, thin profiles were chosen, which correspond very nicely with the furniture items, such as the dining table, Yaniv notes.

In addition, instead of traditional and cumbersome roller shutters, aluminum shutters were chosen for shading, which create design airiness in the space along with controlling the amount of natural light that enters.

"In a sunny country like ours, controlling the light produces a high quality of life, especially in homes facing east and west, where the light is very strong at certain hours. They will be affected by the sun's rays. "

Thanks to the increase in developers, and although the area of the house is not huge, the feeling obtained is of a large space.

This is also thanks to the definition of spaces designed by Yaniv without the need for dividing walls, but only by furniture accessories, lighting and complementary items.

"Eventually they sit in a large 'open space', and the hosts can expand and shrink the spaces according to the intended use," he explains.

Yaniv adds that placing the furniture in the space allows for easy movement in favor of different hospitality scenarios, without changing the layout and needing drastic changes.

The staircase also underwent, as mentioned, a metamorphosis, and was designed as a hovercraft, with it protruding above the storage space below it.

Iron bars that are fixed to the stairs and stretch to the ceiling create a fan design element, while the stairs, which are covered in oak, correspond well with niches set within the storage areas under which they are displayed, and in which complementary decorative accessories are displayed.

A TV placed on a pole creates a cozy corner that invites you to sit in it, but also allows watching from the kitchen, or living room, without the TV.

"The idea was to create another comfortable seating area, not in the traditional place in front of the sofa in the living room. I designed the living room as a gathering place where you can sit and talk in a fun way, without distractions," Yaniv explains.

Many grandchildren who will sleep here.

The grandchildren’s kingdom was designed in the attic, with the thought of creating a fun and enjoyable place for them, where they could sleep, meet and play.

Armchairs that create a modular sofa, which can be opened into a bed, are located in the center of the space, as well as a TV and lots of games.

"It's totally a place that invites grandchildren to come and have fun with grandparents," says Yaniv.

The idea to add a room in the attic was raised because the house did not have a basement, which is usually designated for this purpose.

Yaniv proposed a similar function that would not require the excavation of a basement, and there was no doubt that this was a winning idea.

"I heard the grandchildren are competing over who will sleep in this room every time they come," he smiles.

The bedroom and study are connected by a sliding door that allows connection and separation (Photo: Lior Teitler)

It can also be an additional space for hosting family members, if needed (Photo: Lior Teitler)

On the bedroom floor, Yaniv wanted to create two luxurious suites to accommodate the children who come, including a shared family corner where you can watch TV, read work, and even play the landlady's piano.

In addition, the master suite stands out, featuring a spacious and well-designed bathroom, as well as a spacious study, which is connected and opens to one space, with the bedroom.

"A wide sliding door with a hidden pocket in the wall allows you to open the room to one large space, and if you want to work quietly, you can detach this room from it using the door," explains Yaniv.

"These connection and disconnection are very interesting," he adds.

"And it provides extra space for comfortable and spacious hospitality for the family that comes, if desired."

Yaniv notes that he made calculated use of cool materials, such as porcelain and glass, alongside the warmth of wood in all its shades, and of course the intense color that entered the spaces of the house in a measured way.

"In this way, a precise balance is created that allows for a relaxed and pleasant home to stay in, as well as some restraint and a feeling of something that is a little out of the ordinary," he concludes.
