The death toll from the recent floods in Germany has risen to 169, bringing the total number of victims in Western Europe to 200.
"In the state of Rhenania-Palatinate alone, the floods have killed 121 people," a spokesman for the technical rescue teams in Germany, Aaron Klein, told AFP, noting that the total number of dead in his country had reached 169.
For its part, the Belgian authorities announced that 31 people were killed in the floods that took place in the country in conjunction with the floods in Germany. A previous death toll from floods in Germany yesterday indicated the death of 156 people.
