The opposition denounced a "succession of half-truths and shameless lies" of the government but also "a pass which sanctions a good number of French".

While debates began in the National Assembly on the bill to extend the health pass, the questioning session to the government (QAG) on Tuesday, July 20 largely focused on these subjects. And the debates were lively to say the least. The Insoumise deputy Sabine Rubin, for example, denounced the

"succession of half-truths and shameless lies"

of the government, which, according to her, can

"only cause confusion and the legitimate concern of public opinion"

.

"How can we understand that we make vaccination compulsory for caregivers and firefighters but not for the police? That we can take a crowded RER to go to work but not the train to take advantage of these holidays? ”

She asked.

A session during which Damien Abad, the president of the Les Républicains group in the National Assembly, regretted

"a pass which punishes a good number of French",

including

"young people"

who

"must not pay"

the

“lack of anticipation”

of the government on the health aspect.

A position expressed by the elected representative a few minutes earlier during a press conference:

"We want a transitional period to be put in place until August 30 to allow those who have received a first dose not to be constrained in their leisure activities ”,

he defended.

In the presidential majority, the bill is debated

During the debates in the Hemicycle, the president of the socialist group in the National Assembly, Valérie Rabault, who pleads for compulsory vaccination, for his part accused the executive of giving the French

"an illusion of freedom that does not" does not exist yet ”.

“What exactly is the number of doses available until the end of August?”

She asked.

A subject also raised by several parliamentarians during the first work in the law committee and on which the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, wanted to be reassuring.

"We have a stock of 6 million doses and until the end of August the delivery of 4.5 million doses per week is expected,

" he said.

On the side of the presidential majority, not everyone is also on the same wavelength.

For the past few days, the bill has animated internal debates.

“There were some fairly lively exchanges on the Telegram loops

(messaging used by parliamentarians, Editor's note).

Some deputies are worried about the

treatment of people who cannot be vaccinated,

relates an elected official.

Others question the bill as a whole.

“Not everyone is necessarily in favor and there are many discussions.

But we must stand together behind the government in this difficult period ”,

loose a Macronist parliamentarian who was convinced by the speech of the President of the Republic.

"I was much more in favor of the vaccination obligation than this health pass which raises questions about individual freedoms,"

says an important figure in the presidential movement.

LREM deputy Valéria Faure-Muntian, for her part, publicly displayed her

"skepticism"

.

In

Le Progrès

, the parliamentarian questioned

"the applicability"

of the obligation to vaccinate caregivers and said she was

"fiercely opposed to the extension of the health pass for trivial and daily acts".

“Freedom is a fragile right, and a restriction, even temporary for a health issue, cannot be taken lightly,” she

argues.

We must respond point by point to all the people who are revisiting the history of medicine and fighting this health woke trend.

François Jolivet, LREM deputy

LREM deputy François Jolivet warns the government: the health pass should not, according to him, be accompanied by new restrictions.

“The French can't take the bans anymore.

First and foremost, we need to advertise vaccination.

We must respond point by point to all the people who are revisiting the history of medicine and fighting this woke health trend, ”he

explains to

Le Figaro.

The text will be debated and voted on today in the National Assembly and on Friday in the Senate.

In the event of disagreement between the two chambers, parliamentarians will have the weekend to find a compromise in a joint committee.
