A former mixed martial arts practitioner was the first Friday August 6 to plead guilty to assaulting a police officer in the January 6 violent attack on the Capitol in Washington by supporters of Donald Trump.
Scott Fairlamb, 44, faces up to just over four years in prison for participating in the assault on Congress headquarters, when parliamentarians gathered there to certify Joe Biden's victory over the Republican billionaire in the 2020 presidential election.

Among the more than 550 people arrested since, this owner of a gym, whose brother is an agent in charge of the security of the American personalities ("
Secret Service
"), was Friday the first to plead guilty to having assaulted a policeman.
Videos from January 6 show him screaming and blocking the way for a police officer while wielding a retractable baton.
He urges "
patriots
" to disarm the policeman and force entry to the building.
Scott Fairlamb also pleaded guilty to obstructing the work of Congress. Other charges were dropped. His sentence will be pronounced on September 27. He risks between 41 and 51 months of imprisonment but the judge could decide to increase or reduce his sentence.
