Tropical Storm "Grace" rained heavy rains on Haiti tonight (Tuesday), two days after a powerful earthquake struck the impoverished Caribbean country. The storm added to the suffering of thousands of people who lost loved ones, were injured or lost their homes in the noise, and it forced the overcrowded hospitals and rescuers to respond quickly to the additional trouble that has befallen the country.

After the night, heavy rains and strong winds whipped in the southwest of the island, the epicenter of the earthquake on Saturday. Officials in the country have warned that in some areas there may be up to 38 cm of rain before the storm continues. Heavy rains have also fallen in the capital, Port-au-Prince. 'Mike and Southeast Cuba.

At the same time, the Civil Defense Agency updated that the death toll from the earthquake had risen to 1,419.

In addition, about 6,000 people were injured, and many of them had to wait in an open area for medical treatment, under heavy heat.

"We are working to ensure that all the resources we have reach the hardest hit areas," said agency chief Jerry Chandler.

In a hospital in the town of La Kaya, one of the hotspots of disaster, the load of wounded was so great that many of them lay in courtyards, corridors, balconies and aisles.

Following the storm, the hospital rushed them to a safe place.

"We planned to set up tents, but we were told it would not be safe," said Gid Patterson, director of the city's general hospital.

At the same time, rescue crews continue to search for survivors under the rubble of a hotel that collapsed on Saturday, and at least 15 bodies were rescued from it.

Saturday's magnitude 7.2 earthquake nearly devastated several towns in southwestern Haiti, experiencing a series of catastrophic disasters and crises, from the Corona plague and valley poverty rates to last month's assassination of President Jubilee Moyes and gang violence.

"We are in an extraordinary situation," interim Prime Minister Ariel Henry told reporters ahead of the storm.

Henry, who is due to remain in office until new elections are held, on Saturday declared a state of emergency for a month and called on citizens to "show solidarity".
