Marktoberdorf / Kaufbeuren - Even if Corona prevented the festive award ceremony for the second time, a jury also awarded the best journeyman's pieces this year as part of the “Die Gute Form” competition organized by the Kaufbeuren-Marktoberdorf carpenters' guild.

"As part of the practical journeyman's examination, the trainees not only produce the pieces independently, but also design and construct them," explained Reinhold Echtler, head master of the Kaufbeuren-Marktoberdorf carpenters' guild. "The trainees invest up to 100 hours in the implementation of their personal journeyman's piece," said Christian Mayer, chairman of the examination board and apprentice supervisor at the carpenter's guild in Kaufbeuren-Marktoberdorf. Both expressly praised the new journeymen, "because you have persevered and successfully completed your three-year training despite the two difficult Corona years."

As the name of the competition “Die Gute Form” already suggests, the overall impression of the design should be the focus of the evaluation. In view of the range of 18 pieces of furniture submitted, from desks to sideboards or beds to table football, it was really no easy task for the three-person jury. She was impressed "by the diversity of the work in terms of materials, cuts and functionality". But also the technical details already integrated into a conspicuously large number of pieces, such as a subwoofer or playful lighting elements, proved the competence of the Ostallgäu young carpenters with regard to future customer requests.

After three tours, the jury decided on the winners.

"Slim optics, restrained design language, varying views from afar and near as well as well-chosen proportions and lines" was the jury's rationale for first place.

The sideboard with lighting was made by Enrico Maierhofer from Möbel Traut in Obergünzburg.

Second place went to Nico Hösle from the Wohlfahrt joinery in Görisried.

“It is a great idea to make a table football yourself.

The wood mix of ash and white fir, the ingenious design of the storage, play and counting devices or the inlay field round off the perfect overall impression, ”was the assessment.

The third prize winner was Jonas Wieser from the Herbein joinery in Wald.

Regarding his organizer, a combination of key holder and bench, the jury said: “A successfully implemented, individually developed idea for the hallway.

The two-tone material mix of ash wood, linoleum and metal, the mechanics and the conical, light-looking, but stable seating solution are impressive. "

Lorenz Steil from Möbel Wagner in Mindelheim showed what an oak grandfather clock could look like today.

The jury honored the work with a commendation, because in addition to the symmetrical appearance and the impressive craftsmanship, "we found it courageous to dare to try this timeless classic."

All award winners and their training companies received a certificate from the carpenters' guild about the award.

Enrico Maierhofer will now represent the guild with his sideboard in the competition at state level.
