A fire broke out in Shek Kip Mei Village. At about 5 o'clock in the morning today (14th), a unit in Meicai Building suddenly caught fire and a large amount of smoke was emitted. The firefighters arrived at the report and used a breathing apparatus team and a throat to fight the blaze. At the same time, they raised a ladder to shoot water

At about 5 o'clock in the morning today (14th), a unit in Meicai Building suddenly caught fire and a large amount of smoke was emitted.

The firefighters arrived at the report and used a breathing apparatus team and a throat to fight the blaze. At the same time, they raised a ladder to shoot water. The fire was put out more than ten minutes later. The cause of the fire is now being investigated.

Afterwards, the exterior wall of the unit that caught fire was severely blackened. Fortunately, no casualties were caused. However, about 50 residents needed to be evacuated.


Affected by the fire, the Transport Department announced at 6:22 am that Wo Tsai Street (round-trip direction) between Nam Cheong Street and Pak Tin Street has now been closed.

Bus routes 6D, 6P, 2B, 86, 86A, 2D must be diverted.
