A fire broke out in Shek Kip Mei Village.
At 5 o'clock in the morning today (14th), a fire broke out in a unit in Meicai Building behind closed doors. Firemen rushed to fight the blaze with a breathing apparatus team and a throat. At the same time, a ladder was raised to shoot water, and the fire was put out more than ten minutes later.
It is understood that there was an elderly man living alone in the burning unit. He opened the stove to cook at 4 am and went out for morning transport. It is not ruled out that this caused the fire. The police and firefighters are investigating the actual cause of the fire.
Afterwards, the exterior wall of the unit that caught fire was severely blackened, but fortunately no casualties were caused. However, more than 100 residents needed to be evacuated.
Affected by the fire, the Transport Department announced at 6:22 am that Wo Tsai Street (round-trip direction) between Nam Cheong Street and Pak Tin Street has now been closed.
Bus routes 6D, 6P, 2B, 86, 86A, 2D must be diverted.
