The British government renewed its threat today to reinforce inspections of European fishing vessels in its waters in response to retaliatory measures announced by France following disputes over fishing licenses in the post-Brexit era.
A British government spokesman said in a statement carried by AFP that London intends to launch a mechanism for settling disputes stipulated in the post-Brexit trade agreement, which includes the implementation of strict inspections dealing with the fishing activities of the European Union in the territorial waters of the United Kingdom.
British Environment Minister George Eustice threatened earlier today that his country would resort to inspecting more French ships in response to Paris' detention of a British fishing vessel in French territorial waters.
