INTERVIEW - Sister Véronique Margron is president of the Conference of Men and Women Religious in France (Corref), the other representative body of the Catholic Church, which brings together all religious orders, male and female, contemplative or apostolic.

LE FIGARO.- The bishops of France meet in Lourdes, in particular on the follow-up to be given to the Sauvé report on sexual abuse in the Church.

You have a woman's and a nun's perspective on this subject: what should the bishops not “miss” in considering this question?

Véronique MARGRON.

-

I do not know how to answer you, because that would be very pretentious and unwelcome.

On the other hand, I believe that all of us, each one commensurate with his responsibility, we must not miss at least this: finally do justice to the victims, to the “prevented lives”, broken, including with the consequences on their loved ones.

To signify in our flesh our moral shame, our degradation in the face of these crimes committed in our Church.

Take steps to ensure that this cannot happen again than ever.

Hear the people of God, our communities, in their anger, their expectations, their questions.
