Metaverse: how Facebook wants to immerse its users "in the internet"

Chris Cox, the group's product director, renamed Meta, explains the strategic interest of the revolutionary project presented last week.


Facebook wants to open a new chapter in its history. On Thursday, the Californian group unveiled its ambition to build the next internet connection platform: the metaverse. This titanic project - at least a hundred billion dollars will be invested in the coming decade - comes with a new name for the company, now renamed Meta.

“Our group was named after only one of our departments. From now on, we will be able to distinguish between the social network Facebook and all of our activities - this is a question on which we have been thinking for a few years, ”
